Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University softball (11-25, 1-14 SSC) dropped the final game of the series 3-1 to Sunshine State Conference (SSC) opponent Florida Tech (31-11, 9-3 SSC) on Friday afternoon.
Megan Granitto (Fr., Wellington, Fla.) took the loss despite holding the Panthers scoreless for six innings. Granitto (5-7) allowed eight hits, three earned runs and two walks. Rachel Pence (24-8) saw another win as she gave up four hits, one earned run and one walk with five strikeouts on the day.
The game was a defensive duel until the end as both teams went scoreless through five. That changed when Granitto hit a solo home run over the fence in left center to put the Sharks up 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth.
Unfortunately the Panthers were not giving up as Nicole Shinsky hit a two-out three-RBI double in the top of the seventh to put Florida Tech in the lead 3-1. The Sharks did not respond in the bottom of the inning so Florida Tech would see their third victory of the series.
In addition to Granitto,
Katey Blummer (Jr., Naples, Fla.),
Dajia Jones (Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Ashley Roe (Jr., Flower Mound, Texas) each had a hit in the contest.
NSU will face SSC opponent Rollins in Winter Park, Fla. in a three-game series beginning Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. The links to the live stats and live video for each game will be available
